๐Ÿ What is Qurbani and Why is it Important?

Qurbani (Udhiya) is the Islamic practice of sacrificing an animal during the days of Eid-ul-Adha, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. It is a Sunnah Mu'akkadah (confirmed Sunnah) and is obligatory (Wajib) in the Hanafi school of thought for every sane, adult Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold.

Qurbani Obligation (Hanafi School)

Qurbani is Wajib upon every adult Muslim who owns wealth equal to or exceeding the Nisab threshold (87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver) after deducting basic needs and debts.

๐Ÿ“Š How the Qurbani Calculator Works

Our Qurbani Calculator uses established Islamic jurisprudence (Hanafi Fiqh) and FAO meat yield standards to provide accurate calculations for your sacrifice. The calculator takes into account:

  • Animal Type: Goat (1 share), Cow (7 shares), Camel (7 shares)
  • Breed: Affects dressing percentage (meat yield)
  • Total Price: The full cost of the animal
  • Live Weight: Weight of the animal before slaughter
  • Number of Shares: How many people are sharing the animal

๐Ÿ•Œ Qurbani Rules and Sunnah Distribution

According to the Sunnah, the meat from Qurbani should be distributed in three equal parts:

  1. One-third for yourself and your family
  2. One-third for relatives and friends
  3. One-third for the poor and needy

Our calculator automatically divides the meat yield according to this Sunnah distribution, helping you plan your Qurbani effectively.
